Eildon 1600 Classic Ready To Go!
Last Updated: 08/03/2011

Where will you be on Saturday 26th February 2011?

With less than a week to go before the start of the latest edition of the 1600 Classic - a healthy field of entries has been received and everything is ready to go.

The action is ready to unfold in the hills around Eildon with a familiar format to other events with four stages repeated to provide a total special stage distance of around 106km.

Cars and crews are due to line up in Utah Street Eildon by 11:00am this Saturday (26/02/2011), and the first car starting out from Eildon at 12:00pm.  Spectators should be treated to a good variety of cars and crews from competitors usually seen at the pointy end of the VRC through to some novice competitors looking to push hard and prove themselves against their more experienced opposition.

A spectator point has been set up at a location very close to Eildon itself, with cars expected to start coming through the first time at 1:00pm and again at 3.42pm.  Spectators are advised that you will need to cross a concrete ford on foot if you would like to view the cars at the spectator point - but with temperatures forecast to exceed 30° on Saturday, you might even enjoy it!

The action will continue even after the last car has finished with a post event presentation happening at the Golden Trout Hotel, with prizes allocated for various outright, classes and novices.  Also prizes will be given for the stage time competition where competitors will guess their stage times before starting the event - and the closest to their nominated time will win.  Perhaps the most interesting prizes will be for the first outright 4wd and first outright 2wd crew - who will win the driver's weight in beer, where every kilo will count! May the fattest crew win!

If you haven't entered the event but are still considering, you can still enter if you hurry!  We have some spots left, but your entry must be received before this Wednesday at 8:00pm (23/02/2011).

Good luck to all competing crews!
